Parents, coaches, family and friends packed the gymnasiums at Canyon and Smithson Valley High Schools Wednesday to celebrate 20 senior athletes as they signed national letters of intent to play their sport of choice at the collegiate level.

Comal ISD teachers and staff members are celebrating CTE month throughout February. This is the first in a series of stories that will explain CTE and how the district is expanding its efforts to prepare students for their futures whether their next step is college, a vocation or trade school or employment. Students today have the opportunity to examine their options through a wide variety of CTE classes.

The Canyon Lake High School cafeteria was packed with 300 participants anxiously waiting to play chess on a Saturday in January. The pawns, the rooks, the bishops, the queens and, of course, the kings were lined up neatly in rows ready for the action.
