The visual arts program at Comal ISD is among the top 1.3 percent in the state of Texas, winning the District of Distinction Award for the sixth year in a row by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA).

In only its third year in existence, the Pieper High School Warrior Company is making headlines as the Most Improved Unit in the Nation. With keynote events such as the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and the Bataan Death March Memorial hike, the program is making a difference both on its campus and in its surrounding communities.

With tears in her eyes, a recent Smithson Valley High School graduate hugged Texas State Senator Donna Campbell, M.D., after learning she is the recipient of the Texas Armed Services Scholarship from Senate District 25.

A fourth-grade elementary teacher and a middle school AVID teacher and coach were named Comal ISD's District Teachers of the Year during the annual Night of Stars banquet in May. Thirty-six campus teachers of the year were honored as well.

Diversify, mutual funds, portfolios, investment, stocks and bonds . . . these are just a few words that became daily vocabulary for Comal ISD students who won this year's Fall and Spring Stock Market Game competition for Central Texas.

Seventeen Comal ISD students wrapped up the school year competing in the UIL Academic State Meet in Austin with one becoming the 3A headline writing champion and another taking the 5A bronze medal in physics.

Five Comal ISD campuses have performed in the top 12 percent of schools in the state of Texas, making the 2023 Honor Roll list. This annual Honor Roll recognizes successful schools that are preparing students to be successful in the workforce and in life.

Fifteen Comal ISD baseball and softball athletes ended their high school careers at various all-star games.

Two journalism students brought home gold medals from the UIL Academic meet. A junior from Smithson Valley High School became the state 5A team champion, and a senior from Memorial Early College High School was named the 3A headline writing champion.

Comal ISD hosted eight graduation ceremonies this year for the class of 2024 with 2,096 students receiving their high school diplomas. This year marked the first graduation for both Hill Country College Preparatory High School and Pieper High School. Congratulations to all!
