Pieper Ranch Middle School Joins Soles4Souls Initiative to Keep Shoes Out of Landfills, Create Jobs and Provide Disaster Relief
Shoe Drive Dates: February 4 – 14, 2019
Statistics show that on average people in the United States throw away 70 lbs. of textiles per year! Only 15% is said to be donated or recycled. It’s also estimated that 1.5 billion shoes lay idle in American closets. Don’t waste a good opportunity! Put your unused shoes to good use and help create real change in the world. Here’s how:
1. New Shoes - Every day children are prevented from attending school, adults are unable to work. Walking becomes unbearable. A new pair of shoes provides relief in many developing nations around the globe, in times of disaster, and helps bridge the economic gap in the United States
2. Gently Used Shoes - Gently used shoes are a resource to help entrepreneurs in developing nations with an opportunity to start and sustain a small business of their own so they can lift themselves and their family out of poverty.
3. Any Other Shoes (even singles) – Shoes will be recycled for other purposes.
Opportunities for you to Support this Initiative: • Make a poster to promote the shoe drive & receive 1 hour of service • Clean out your closet and donate your old shoes, even singles! • (please tie laces or rubber band shoes together before donating) • Promote the event through your social media
