June 30, 2025 - The Canyon High School Lacrosse team became the 2025 State Runner Up after advancing to the championship title game in the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) this season, making district and school history.
The 27-member team played Guyer High School in the final game, coming up short of the state title.
“While lacrosse is not currently a UIL-sanctioned sport, the student-athletes in our program take just as much pride in wearing ‘Canyon’ on the front of their jerseys and competing at the high level,” says Devan Gallagher, the CHS head lacrosse coach.
“Lacrosse is the fastest-growing sport in the nation, and our program at Canyon has truly been a model for how the sport can thrive in public schools. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about where we’re headed.”
The THSLL has 90 member school programs with 167 varsity and JV teams and more than 3,289 students from across Texas.
