Rookie Teacher Spotlight: Lauren Hall

Hall graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Education. She has always wished to be an educator. “I have known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was in 3rd grade. My mom is also a teacher. I’ve always loved learning and helping my classmates.”

While observing her class, it is undeniable that she has a passion for teaching. She fosters an engaging learning environment that encourages participation. When she asked a question, every hand went up. Every student was enjoying taking part in the lesson they were reviewing.

A 6th grader in Ms. Hall’s class, Mia Sandoval, said, “She is so nice, and she’s really good at explaining things. She makes math fun!” Toby Pullin, standing next to Mia, added, “Math isn’t as scary as it would be because of her. She’s made my 6th grade math experience a good one.”

While speaking with her between her classes, she answered some questions about how her first year has been.

How has your first year of teaching been?

Great! I feel like I learn something new every day. I am constantly learning how to be a better teacher and how to help my students understand things better. I feel like I am learning just as much as my students are.

What are some important things you have learned during your first year of teaching?

I have learned the value of building relationships, both with my students and my coworkers. Getting to know those around me is important to my success as a teacher. I have also learned to be prepared for anything. Every day is different, and every day brings different challenges, so you have to be prepared. Also, I’ve also just seen how fun teaching middle school is. I love my students!

What are your favorite things about working at PRMS?

I feel so valued as an educator here. We enjoy the freedom to make decisions in our classrooms that are best for our students and do things differently. I have always felt fully supported in those decisions. Being able to co-teach alongside Ms. Docekal has been so wonderful. We are able to work off of each other and it all feels so seamless. And most importantly, the students here are fantastic!

Well, all of us here at Pieper Ranch think that Ms. Hall is fantastic too! We appreciate everything she does and the care she takes in teaching our students. We hope the rest of her first year continues to be as wonderful as she is.
