Student 2 Student Officially Begins at Pieper Ranch

We are excited to officially start the Student 2 Student organization here at Pieper Ranch Middle School. Student 2 Student is a leadership organization created to help students who are new to Pieper Ranch feel more included and comfortable in the viper community. Made possible by a grant from the Comal Education Foundation, PRMS is currently the only middle school in Comal ISD to implement this excellent program.

Student 2 Student started out as an initiative from the Military Child Education Coalition to help children of military parents who often move schools feel welcomed and supported. It has since expanded to be offered to all new students regardless of military connection. You can learn more about the program here.

Kialynn Dodson and Rachel Kaspar, two of our amazing counselors, have spearheaded this project with passion as they applied and were ultimately awarded a $1,500 grant from the Comal Education Foundation. With this money, they will be able to provide the resources needed to make this organization successful.

Pieper High School also has a Student 2 Student organization, so these soon-to-be Warriors are being trained to be leaders of the future with a program that will lead all the way through to the end of their high school career. Potential Student 2 Student members were invited to apply and a great group of kids were chosen to participate. These PRMS students will act as guides and friendly faces to new students as they navigate what is normally a scary, nerve-wracking transition.

The Student 2 Student organization held its first meeting this month, Wednesday, February 8th.  It was clear how excited the students were to get started as they were practicing their tour guide skills and discussing all the important things a brand new viper would need to be successful. Students will help these transitioning students by showing them where their classes are, make sure they have somewhere to sit at lunch, and answer any questions they may have about PRMS.

We can’t wait to see how these students will make their campus community thrive!

Be the change to see the change!
